Mirya is the Goddess of Mystery and Magic. Her priests are those who are strong
in magic, and often are Her children (Faerlings and those with Elven blood, or
who are magical in some nature). Priests of Mirya gain miracles of her gifts,
as well as some of the magical talents that other mages of the world might gain. Mirya's priestly magics are strong in enchantment, but weak in healing and affecting the natural world. While charms work against creatures that are her creations, the plants are unaffected. Priests may call for any miracles, but will only be granted what Mirya deems fit at that time. She blesses her priests well. All of Mirya's priests have a pool of power from which they may draw to pray for miracles, or to cast spells which are of Academy Magic. Strength increases as they worship Mirya, and as they grow in personal strength. Other things may effect their magical energy, giving them temporary boosts, or losses. The player of a priest may describe a miracle or a spell which he chooses to have his character cast. The GM will decide (and explain why) whether a miracle is within Mirya's power to grant, how long it will take to pray for this miracle, and the final effect. There are many miracles which are standard, and a priest of Mirya will usually have several standard miracles for which he knows he can expect a response from the Goddess. Academy Magics are all of the studied and ritualized variety, so a spell is carefully researched and drawn out. The spell can then be produced quickly by using a combination of prepared meditation and forknowledge, as well as certain keywords and gestures to draw forth the spell from memory. Spells are not forgotten, nor memorized each day. Rather, when a spell is learned, it takes time to train the body and mind to be able to recall the magic quickly. But once that is finalized, the spell can recalled in a set amount of time, and dependant upon the power put in, produce a set result (for example, a minor amount of power might light a candle, while a far larger amount of power would set the room aflame). There is one final power which all of Mirya's priests possess. They may draw upon their innate power to detect magic in their surroundings. They may either do this by touching an object or creature, or by tuning their sight to see the colors of magic in the world around them. The former draws less power than the latter, of course, but both will drain the priest if utilized too often before rest.
